At Zeffert and Gold, we love being able to bring our clients the finest in gourmet foods and attentive service, while continuing to adhere to our founders mission of using products that are local and practices that are both green and sustainable. As one of Baltimore’s leading catering companies, we are happy to always be at the forefront of these practices. In accordance with this mission, we are happy to announce that we are now replacing our disposable plates with palm plates, bowls, and cutlery. These palm products are made in India by simply pressing fallen palm leaves with steam to create these wonderful plates. There are no coatings or glazes that are put onto the products, so they are able to compost in as little as 6 weeks. These all natural products are compostable, biodegradable and can even be put into the microwave or oven.
The production of these plates begins by collecting fallen leaves from plantations—no trees are ever cut down to make this dinnerware. The leaves are then brought to the factory, where they are sprayed with high-pressure water, steamed and UV sterilized. Over 80% of the water used is recaptured and reused, and the entire manufacturing process uses just 10% of the energy used in recycling. These plates keep your meal and our earth free from harm.
