This past Saturday, July 13th, a beautiful ceremony and reception was held for Steven and Shipei at Cloisters Castle in Lutherville, MD. The entire day was built around small details which reflected Shipei’s Chinese Culture, Steven’s art and design talent and their undying love for each other. The castle was carefully decorated in exquisite Chinese tapestry with red and ivory accents. Upon arriving to the ceremony, guests were handed traditional Chinese fans to use while watching the couple wed in Cloisters Castle’s amphitheater.
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour with tasty appetizers including crab-stuffed mushrooms, peking duck mandarin pancakes, Asian tuna spoon, and Grecian Phyllo pastry cups. The reception was set up with long tables outside in the courtyard. Each table was assigned a different Chinese Zodiac symbol while each guest had their own menu card paired with chopsticks.
Instead of a guestbook, guests signed a Chinese cloth for Steven and Shipei to keep as a reminder of everyone who came to celebrate their special day. As for the main course, guests chose from three different stations of delicious food. The first was a carvery station of turkey breast and marinated flank steak along with triple roast yukon gold, red bliss and sweet potatoes and a field green salad. The second station was “General” chicken, teriyaki glazed salmon, vegetable steamed rice and szechwan string beans. The last station was an assortment of seafood including mussels Provencal, seafood creole and codfish sliders. Let’s just say that guests did not leave the reception hungry! Family and friends raved about the food and went for seconds! Steven and Shipei did a great job of choosing food which reflected Shipei’s Chinese roots while also having a large variety of other pleasing dishes.
Guests danced the night away and did not let the weather interfere with their fun. It was a pleasure working with Steven and Shipei in bringing their vision to life. Putting effort into the small details made the entire day unique and their theme strong. Zeffert and Gold was excited to be there every step of the way leading up to their wedding day, and we wish Steven and Shipei an endless supply of love and happiness in their new journey together.
