Winter Wine at Evergreen Museum & Library, on January 9, 2014, showcases the best wine Maryland has to offer at an impressive Baltimore landmark. Winter Wine is a place for wine lovers to experience the best that Maryland has to offer in a small, exclusive setting. Wines will be organized by variety, and poured by a winery staff (many winemakers will be in attendance), to provide details about particular varietals, blends and vintages.

A Carriage House Pass includes tastings of 30+ award-winning wines, all grown in Maryland, in the charming Carriage House from 7:30 – 10 p.m. Join us an hour earlier for the Sparkling Wine Reception from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the majestic Evergreen Museum & Library.  Here you can sip sparkling wines while touring the Gilded Age mansion with its Tiffany glass, fine collectible art, and full Bakst Theatre.

Start the night with a sampling of cheese featuring fresh imported and domestic cheeses. Then enjoy light passed hors d’oeuvres like marinated portobello mushrooms with smoked mozzarella and sirloin steak wrapped asparagus spears. Finish the night off with miniature french pastries, all by Zeffert & Gold.

Wines will be curated by Mary Zajac and Jonathan Palevsky of WBJC’s “Word on Wine” and will be available for purchase by the glass, bottle, and case. The Family Tree, Maryland’s leading resource for preventing child abuse and neglect, will be running a “Dining Out” raffle. The raffle will feature 12 $100 gift certificates to area restaurants.

The Carriage House Pass is $65 and the Carriage House Pass + Sparkling Wine Reception is $80. The Carriage House Pass will be available at the door for $75.
