Thank you to Linton Photography for the amazing photos featured in this post.

We are now in full swing with our spring wedding season, which means we are finally back at some of our favorite Baltimore wedding venues like the American Visionary Art Museum. Jess and George had a beautiful wedding at AVAM this past February. We had the pleasure of catering this gorgeous Baltimore wedding in front of 150 of their closest friends and family members. The wedding ceremony took place inside the American Visionary Art Museum. If you are not familiar with this quirky Baltimore museum, there are unique art pieces and exhibitions on every floor of the museum. On the first floor, there are over sized sculptures like their signature pink poodle, an elephant and many others. These sculptures are also the same one’s that participate in the Kinetic Sculpture Race, an annual race for human-powered works of art, designed to travel on land, through mud, and over deep harbor waters. If you are in town on Saturday, May 2 it is definitely worth the trip to Baltimore’s Inner Harbor to watch these machines race.

Or, if you are like Jess and George, you could just get married in front of a few of these large sculptures. It certainly makes for a one of a kind backdrop for your ceremony. Don’t think the unique backdrops end after the ceremony. Once the bride and groom said their, “I Do’s,” they were able to take pictures inside the museum in front of the life size hot air balloon, which appropriately has the word Love expanding across the front of the balloon. They went outside into the chilly Baltimore night air, and took pictures in front of the breathtaking mosaic mural. You have to see the pictures to appreciate how beautiful the architecture of AVAM lends for wedding photos.

While the bride and groom were busy outside, their guests headed upstairs for cocktail hour. Staying warm with drinks like the signature drink of Jameson and Ginger with a twist of lime, guests mingled and enjoyed delicious appetizers including

Hot Maryland Crab Dip
Bruschetta Bazaar of Tomato Bruschetta, Olive Muffaletta Bruschetta,
and Roasted Vegetable Bruschetta
An assortment of Imported and Domestic cheese,
served with coarse mustard and a selection of gourmet crackers
Sweet and Sour Meatballs

After cocktail hour, it was time to introduce the bridal party and the bride and groom. Once the crowd was warmed up, we moved straight into Jess and George’s first dance. Then toasts to the bride and groom were made to round off the pre-dinner traditions.

Now to our favorite part. The buffet dinner menu. For Jess and George’s AVAM Baltimore Menu, we served:

Fresh Garden Salad of romaine lettuce with shredded carrot, cherry tomatoes, and sliced cucumber tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette

Teriyaki Glazed Salmon presented on a bed of braised spinach, topped with brown sugar caramelized onions
House Marinated Flank Steak served with Cabernet Sauce
Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Steamed Broccoli with a Lemon Butter Sauce
Artisan Rolls with Rosemary Honey Butter

After the dinner service, it was time for the father-daughter and mother-son dances. The rest of the night, Jess and George got to dance and celebrate with their friends and family. We cut and served the cake, while the guests stayed on the dance floor. It’s always a great Baltimore wedding when guests have a drink in one hand, and a slice of cake in the other. Congratulations to the lovely couple. It was a pleasure catering your wedding, Jess and George!
